U.S. Senate, U.S. House Haggle Over Immigration Processing Rules As U.S. Rep. Grijalva (D-AZ) Recognizes the "pandering"
wgntv.com/#NexStar With an unprecedented surge in migrants coming across the southern border in the last two years, states in the U.S. have had to spend tens of millions of dollars to deal with the escalating crisis. ::: Pressure has been amped up from both Democrats and Republicans for President Joe Biden's administration to react to the crisis and while he recently reversed his stance and gave the go-ahead for a section of the border wall to be completed, some border state governors have been taking matters into their own hands to stem the flow of migrants.
breitbart.com Just six Democrats joined House Republicans this week to prevent President Joe Biden from turning federal lands into migrant camps for tens of thousands of illegal aliens who have been released into the United States interior. ::: On Thursday, the House passed Rep. Nicole Malliotakis's legislation known as the "Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act" to block the federal government from using federal lands to house illegal aliens in a 224-203 vote.
kgun9.com Representative Raúl Grijalva (D) Arizona District 7 says allowing "border crossers" to ask for asylum is required through U.S. and international law. However, he says politicians eager to demonize asylum seekers are getting in the way of providing resources to help solve the problem. ::: "Everybody pandering to to the issue of immigrants and migrants as a political issue going into 2024, as opposed to a crisis that needs some resolution right now," Rep. Grijalva shared. ::: He says Republicans in Congress are making it harder to channel assistance to the border because they are connecting border resources to assistance to Israel and Ukraine.
